About The Morris Music Men

The Morris Music Men are an award-winning a cappella choral group made up of over 50 members ranging in age from 23 to 89, all with one thing in common: an irresistible urge to sing and "Make People Happy!"

As Morris County’s representative in the Barbershop Harmony Society, we're the fastest growing chapter in the Mid-Atlantic Region. And we're proud to say we've been named the Barbershop Harmony Society's Northeast Division AA Champions for 2017.

Our wide-ranging repertoire features America’s most popular music, from pop standards and Broadway, to country and rock. And we delight in bringing our special brand of fun to a wide array of venues, such as local festivals and fairs, baseball stadiums, private parties and active adult communities. We deliver Singing Valentines each February and perform our annual two-hour spectacular each November.

We also present numerous benefit performances, including our holiday show at the VA hospital in Lyons, and are proud to maintain relationships with the Interfaith Food Pantry of Morris County and organizations for adults and adolescences with special needs, such as ECLC in Chatham and Employment Horizons in Cedar Knolls. We also sponsor a community outreach program called "Ready, Set, Sing" that offers Free Singing Lessons to men of all ages.

Our dynamic young director, Nate Barrett, an accomplished musician and concert trombonist, has been recognized by the Barbershop Harmony Society for his leadership and ability to inspire membership growth. (We've gone from just 13 members in 2014 to more than 50 today!) Only 26 years old, Nate possesses an innate talent for motivating the chorus to fulfill its maximum singing potential and perform with enthusiasm, genuine emotion and pure joy.

If you'd like to join the fun and feel the personal satisfaction of lifting people’s spirits and making them happy, we invite you to visit our rehearsals at the Gloria Dei Luthern Church in Chatham any Tuesday evening at 7:30. We'd love to see you!

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, The Morris Music Men participate in a chorus competition hosted by the Barbershop Harmony Society's Mid-Atlantic District. Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses to come together to sing for each other, and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges.

Plateau AHere we are winning the Plateau AA Championship in 2017 in Cherry Hill, NJ.

Quartets

Most barbershop choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. The Morris Music Men currently are home to two such quartets, The Four Old Parts, and Napoleon and the Bonaparts and others are in the works. To learn more about them visit our Quartets section.

More Than A HobbyIt's the singing that brings us together. But it's the fun and camaraderie that sweetens the pot. The friendships forged through barbershop harmony bridge gaps in ways that no other hobby is capable of doing. That's why for many devotees, barbershop is far more than a hobby; it's a passion.
